Dr. Nicole Fram is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in refractive cataract surgery, corneal disease, complex cataract surgery and external disease. She is the managing partner of Advanced Vision Care and clinical instructor of ophthalmology at the Stein Eye Institute, UCLA.

She completed her residency as co-chief resident at Wills Eye Hospital, followed by a fellowship in cornea, refractive and external disease from UCSF Francis I. Proctor Foundation. Academically, she has authored textbook chapters and articles on ophthalmology for peerreviewed medical journals. She serves as the Chair of the Cataract Subcommittee for American Academy of Ophthalmology, the editor of the Cataract Consultation Section of the JCRS and is an active member of the ASCRS Cataract Committee. Dr. Fram lectures nationally and internationally and enjoys teaching innovative surgical techniques to colleagues, residents and fellows.

Linda A. Lam, MD, MBA, is the vice chair of Satellite Clinical Affairs and a professor in ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She was educated at Brown University where she graduated with honors in Neuroscience. Dr. Lam received her medical degree with honors at Cornell University Medical College, where she also completed a research fellowship on retinal cell physiology. She completed her residency at the Cole Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic, before her fellowship appointment at Georgetown University Hospital and the Retina Group of Washington. She serves as a reviewer for journals including Ophthalmology and British Journal of Ophthalmology. Dr. Lam has authored peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in retinal diseases. She has lectured both internationally and nationally on retinal disease and research. She also serves as the medical director of USC Roski Eye Institute Arcadia. She also is a graduate of the executive MBA program at the Marshall School of Business. Dr. Lam is also an executive board member at the Braille Institute of America. Her research interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, complex vitreoretinal surgery, and innovative technology to aid blind and low vision individuals.

Dr. Mruthyunjaya was born in India and moved to Upstate New York at the age of 2. He was selected for the highly prestigious accelerated 6-year medical program completing his undergraduate studies at Rensselaer in 2 years then moving on to complete his medical studies at Albany Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. At the Duke Eye Center in Durham, NC, he finished his Ophthalmology residency, Chief Residency, and clinical-research fellowships in Vitreoretinal surgery followed by an Ocular Oncology fellowship at the Moorfields Eye Hosptial in London, UK. As a fellow, he was recognized with the highest nationwide honors by the Heed, AOS-Knapp and Ronald G Michels foundations. He was on faculty at Duke from 2005-16 where developed an integrated Retina-Ocular Oncology program and was named a tenured Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Radiation Oncology, Medical Director and Director of Ocular Oncology. He has enjoyed moving to the Bay area with his family.

Dr. Velez joined Duke Eye Center’s Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Division in June 2018. He is originally from Colombia, where he received his medical degree and completed his residency. Dr. Velez completed his pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus fellowship in California at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute. He is passionate about taking care of adult and pediatric patients with strabismus, which is misalignment of the eye, and treating pediatric lens disorders. Each patient is different and he takes that into consideration when talking to patients and their caregivers about treatment options and how he can best take care of their eyes.

Dr. Velez has a passion for research. He is very proud to have developed several successful clinical research and surgical techniques to treat complex strabismus conditions including paralytic, traumatic and strabismus secondary to ocular diseases. He is also actively involved in studies related to anterior segment ischemia and pediatric lens disorders.

Dr. Juliette Preston is the director of the OHSU headache center. Prior to joining OHSU, Dr. Preston was an assistant professor at UCLA where she also completed a 2-year fellowship in headache medicine and pain management. She graduated from University of California, San Diego medical school and completed her neurology residency at Harbor-UCLA. Dr. Preston’s clinical work focuses on treating migraine and other head, neck and facial pain disorders. Her research interest focuses on functional imaging and neuro-modulation to be applied to patients with chronic pain.
